Built and opened in 1921, we have a real goal to see this building reopened in 2022, not as a school but as a community center at the heart of our neighborhood. Focusing on health and wellness, the arts, entrepreneurship and youth activities, this is a game changer for our community.
On a city level, this building opens up the possibility for more development. It improves walk scores for housing and gives a blueprint for how to reuse these vacant school buildings around the city.
On the street level, access to healthy food, youth activity, preschool, a computer lab where folks can apply for jobs, a walk-in clinic, and so much more will have an enormous impact on the mobility and achievement possibility of many of my neighbors.
